Woman Strangles Newborn Baby

The Public Prosecutor of Puntarenas requested this morning, for 35 years in prison for a woman suspected of strangling her baby.

She is 33 years of age surnamed Rios Campos and is a Nicaraguan national.

According to the Public Ministry, the baby’s death occurred on March 20, 2011,in a house in the town of Santa Teresa de Cóbano.

The autopsy revealed that minutes after birth, the baby was strangled.

On these facts the public prosecutor handling the case this morning requested the Court of Puntarenas 35 years in prison for the woman.

The day of the murder of the baby, the suspect presented a hemorrhage, and she was taken to hospital Monsignor Sanabria. The medical center alerted the authorities and she was arrested when she got out.

Later, police searched the place where the woman lived and found the body of the newborn in a plastic bag.

The press office informed the court that judges shall make known their decision starting at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
