University Week Offers Meal of Insects

The Insect Museum at the University of Costa Rica prepared tasting various dishes made of insects that are offering the public as part of the University Week activities.

According to Federico Paniagua, project manager, the idea is that people have the courage to eat certain types of insects, for its high nutritional value because they are rich in lean proteins, minerals like calcium, vitamins B and magnesium.

The tasting is in the basement of the School of Music at UCR and has prepared a menu for each day that can be tasted from nine o’clock to 11 o’clock, by a collaboration of 400 colones children, 700 adults and 1400 colones for foreigners.
