Two Students Arrested For Firearm

Two students were arrested by police while carrying a 25 caliber pistol. The gun was inside his bag. The students belonged to the Moravian College.

The arrest occurred outside the Experimental High School in La Trinidad deMoravia.

Public officers received information that two young men were handling a gun near the school.

When they reached the site they located a tenth-grade student and another of 17 years old carrying a 25 caliber pistol.

Rodrigo Alfaro, of the security forces, said the search was carried out for several days, following several reports of the director and parents concerned about the increase in assaults on students.

A similar situation occurred earlier this month at Bethany School in San Pedro de Montes de Oca.

There a professor found in the backpack of a student, a gun. The student was under 13 years old, and was sent with his parents to the Attorney Juvenile on charges of carrying an illegal weapon.

However, in the case on Wednesday in Moravia no adult or family member showed up to watch the student’s case.

The student arrested Wednesday was referred to the Juvenile Prosecutor for the crime of illegally carrying of weapons.
