At least eight people died during Holy Week from accidents at beaches and rivers. Twenty-seven more may have died however they were rescued in time.
Unfortunately within the dead are minors.
For this situation, the Ministry of Public Security announced that they are preparing a draft law for people who have not attained 18 years of age to be required to use a life jacket on beaches and rivers.
This was confirmed by the senior of that ministry, Mario Zamora.
However, the minister did not give a date for when it will deliver the bill to the Legislature which should follow the normal procedure.
