Both the opposition and members of the National Liberation Party, look favorably on the actions taken by President Laura Chinchilla with regards to an alternative to the proposed solidarity tax.
They include measures such as reduction of resources for political campaigns and the freezing of salaries, plus public sector pensions in excess of three million colones.
Also they think the sale gives the state property and vehicles that are not used, and charging for some services could ease the country’s fiscal situation.
However, they all agree that these measures were late, as it should have been raised before proposing the tax plan.
Some lawmakers were surprised to see that the president did not mention this in her speech about the reduction in consultancies, which annually earns huge amount of funds in the country.
