Obesity Becoming a Problem With Costa Rican Youth

The Global School Health Survey shows that only 27% of the adolescents between 13 and 15 are physically inactive and 44% spend more than three hours sitting in their spare time.

Experts estimate that between 5 and 17 years, youth must complete a minimum of 60 minutes of moderate aerobic activity to prevent inactivity and related diseases such as obesity and juvenile diabetes.

Giner Garro, Physical Educator CNG company says that it is essential activities that appeal to children or playing outdoors frequently.

Data from the Ministry of Health show that childhood obesity leads in many cases to suffer into adulthood, and in Costa Rica for 62% of men over age 20suffer from obesity.
