The Ministry of Health plans to eradicate malaria infections in the country over the next two years.
In World Malaria Day it has been shown that the contagion of the disease declined 44% last year, where the cases reported in 2000 were 1,879 and in 2011 there were 17.
Until today, there have been reported, 5 confirmed cases of malaria in the country. Historically the Atlantic area is maintaining the highest incidence of the disease.
Reported cases are 2 in Jicaral. One imported from Nicaragua, one in Golfito and the last in the central valley of San Jose.
