The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad is receiving about 800 complaints a day about text message scams saturating the customer care systems of the institution.
ICE on Wednesday sent a text message to all mobile phone users to alert them about the international scam that offer large amounts of money for sending customers’ personal data.
Juan de la Cruz, Director of the direction of consumer protection, said that in conjunction with the OIJ redirect complaints to the number receiving 800-DENUNCIA.
The problem now is that the customer service system only allows 100 calls a day, so the system remains locked.
ICE advises people who receive text messages or suspicious calls and offering prizes as high sums of money delete them immediately and insist on the complaints system of the institution.
