Government declares public interest natural gas imports

The government signed a decree this morning to declare public interest natural gas imports.

This product is used as a “transition fuel” towards cleaner fuels that the petroleum derivatives, industry, transport and trade

The announcement was made by Environment Minister René Castro, during the inauguration of the new campus of Recope at the airport Juan Santamaría.

He explained that the gas could be available in the country in six months. This would be a cheaper and cleaner than petroleum.

While a barrel of oil is worth $ 95, the equivalent in liquefied natural gas worth $ 25.

This initiative aims to contribute to the project country to reduce CO2 emissions is carbon.
