The constant increases in fuel prices will take a toll in the pocket of Costa Ricans.
According to the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), in March when it entered into force only part of the rise, inflation almost doubled.
The variation in the Consumer Price Index grew from 0.28% in February to 0.40% in March. The inflation picture in the case of fuel is rising very high and they need to add at least two more incremental increases as discussed in the Regulatory Authority for Public Services (ARESEP)
The INEC coordinator indices, Odette Navarro explained that, gasoline is the factor that has more weight on the variation in cost of living.
ARESEP announced on Friday that fuel prices will experience a new increase in May to 39 colones per liter, due to the application of the automatic adjustment formula in April.
The liter of premium gasoline will go up 39 at 785 colones colones plus a liter of petrol will go up 27 ¢ and reach 762, while the lower 8 liter of diesel will cost 659colons and colons.
