The Attorney General of the Republic, Jorge Chavarria, confirmed to NewsWatch that former president Oscar Arias Sanchez, is under criminal investigation in the case of Crucitas.
The name of the former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner, was listed on the front of the main file as one of the people being investigated although not listed as a defendant because he has not been deposed in relation to the crime.
Chavarria, who is traveling in Mexico, said the president is one of those investigated but have not yet found sufficient evidence to move further ahead.
Arias signed the decree of the project of national interest on arrears. On Thursday, the prosecution charged her former Minister of Environment Roberto Dobles in this case.
Sources confirmed that the attorney Arias is being investigated by the firm in the same decree and made further financial analysis of the accounts of the Arias Foundation.
Oscar Arias has failed to respond to these claims as of yet.
