Cuba and Costa Rica Strengthen Ties

Costa Rica and Cuba established a mechanism for political consultations and bilateral cooperation as a result of the visit of Deputy Foreign Minister of Costa Rica, Carlos Roverssi to Havana.

According to Foreign Minister Enrique Castillo, the meeting between Roverssi and his Cuban counterpart, Rogelio Sierra served to define the parameters of knowledge sharing and technical support in the framework of respect for different political views of the two nations.

Castillo said the two countries have a look at the next summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean in which Costa Rica, Chile and Cuba will assume the presidency pro-tempore for the next three years.

The foreign minister also stressed that the dignitaries discussed issues of tourism, health, public safety, combating drug trafficking and plans mitigation of natural disasters.
