Costa Rica is the second country in cocaine seizures in the last year, beating Mexico and Panama. This information was confirmed by Deputy Minister of Security,Celso Gamboa, who added that in the last 12 months they have confiscated 12 688 kilos of the drug, which represents approximately 1057 kilos per month.
Gamboa reiterated that the seizure of drugs is a clear message to people involved in this business and causing death and violence in the countries of the region
On Wednesday, after receiving an alert via a phone call, officers of the security forces seized 21 kilos of cocaine hidden in the back seat of a vehicle driven by a person named Soto in the Osa region.
The drug, according to Deputy Minister of Security said, was wrapped in red plastic under the seats. It is assumed that the suspect was carrying cocaine from Paso Canoas.
