The CCSS Board of Directors awarded the construction of 15 operating rooms at the Hospital San Juan de Dios, with a budget of over 6 billion colones.
The project should have started last year, but suffered another delay in January, when the declaration of cultural patrimony of the building interrupted the start of construction.
Gabriela Murillo, Infrastructure Manager, said that once approved by the Comptroller’s budget plan to start work in July.
The building will take 12 months for the renewal of the electrical system, air-conditioning, space reorganization and renovation of the recovery area.
The medical center made from the previous year a contingency plan to redirect the 70 surgeries a day to be applied in that hospital.
