Costa Rica Could Get Fire Fighting Chopper of it’s Own

The President of the Republic, Laura Chinchilla said the country will have a new helicopter before the end of this year due to the need to deal with fire emergencies the country has experienced in recent days.

The president, made ​​this morning a helicopter overflight in the Colombian AirForce chopper on the main areas affected by forest fire in Buenos Aires.

Hector Chavez, director of the Fire Department, who accompanied the president during the flyby said this team will help in emergencies and stressed that it requires an interagency effort to get the most out of this.

Chinchilla met with officials of different institutions dealing with the incident in the Emergency Operations Center in Buenos Aires where he reported that representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Fire Department will integrate a special commission to review the content of the law to punish with an iron fist those who ​​irresponsibly created the fires.
