The construction of a new bridge over the river Virilla-parallel to “the platen” – will be the priority of the new Brazilian contractor of the road between the cities of San Jose and San Ramon.
The information was confirmed last week by Edwin Rodriguez, a technical secretary of the National Concessions Council (CNC).
He warned that they must first complete the OAS negotiations with the construction, who took the award for the road of 59 kilometers.
Rodriguez estimated that in a couple of weeks the CNC and the company could start writing the first agreements achieved, which would include giving priority to the construction of the bridge
The technical secretary preferred not to mention the amount of the work while the negotiation is not firm.
In August last year, the then Minister of Public Works, Francisco Jiménez, said that a four-lane bridge at that location would cost $ 15 million.
In negotiating with the Brazilian OAS still, there are points to be resolved. Among them, the state has not expropriated 10% of the land needed to increase the number of lanes on the road.
Since 2006 and until February 2011 (when recalculated the project), the price of the future enlargement increased from $ 240 million to $ 511 million.
The last Thursday, Rodriguez declined to update the amounts because these details are part of the financial balance of the project and that is negotiated with OAS.
Among other changeswas discarded the possibility of building a toll in Palmares, Alajuela, involving decision; adjust other costs of tolls on the route. This aspect is to be found on the Regulatory Authority for Public Services (Aresep).
