The President of the Republic, Laura Chinchilla met this Monday with specialists in tax matters to discuss aspects to improve the collection and analysis of the scope of the Act to Strengthen Fiscal Management.
This was during the meeting attended by experts like Allan Saborío, Adrian Torrealba, Diego Alonso Salto and Arroyo.
According to the minister of communication, Francisco Chacon, the experts recommended use of an electronic bill to combat tax evasion.
In addition, we will analyze the benefits of forcing the Ticos to pay by credit card or debit consultations or services provided by professionals, like doctors, lawyers and dentists.
This is the second meeting with the president and various specialists, after learning that the Constitutional Court reversed the Tax Plan. The first meeting was last week with senior economists.
Chacón reiterated that the improvement in tax collection is not seen as a Plan B,but as a supplement to a tax reform that the country needs.
He added that the Government’s efforts will focus on fostering a discussion withall political sectors to approve bills for Strengthening Tax Management and Fiscal Transparency.
