China donates $ 1.3 million in medical equipment for the Costa Rican police

The Chinese Government gave a donation of $ 1.3 million in medical equipment for use by the security forces.

The budget includes equipment for ultrasound, EKG, heart monitors, defibrillators and x-ray machines

The donation, that will strengthen the medical unit of the security forces, was received by the president, Laura Chinchilla, and the minister, Mario Zamora, during an event which was performed in the premises of the Ministry of Security, located in Córdoba district , San Jose.

The delivery of the material was made by the Ambassador of the Republic of China, Li Changhua, who said he was hoping to continue to expand cooperation between the two countries.

Zamora said the team will serve to preserve, maintain and improve the integral health of the workers in this ministry.

He also said that it will have staff available to Air Surveillance Service (VAS), which very often performs ambulance flights, that move people who are victims of a serious accident.

The Chinese Government had also donated to Security, last January, 200 patrols and is planning the construction of the new National Police Academy. The office will be in Pococí, Limón.
