The Drug Safety Commission and the Legislature affirmatively ruled the project to implement the use of bracelets in criminal cases. A bill that, according to Deputy Justice Minister Fernando Ferraro, is not intended to get prison inmates free of prison in bulk.
According Ferrarro each case will be assessed by specialists in criminology who will determine who meets the conditions for using these devices.
Supervision and monitoring of this measure would be in charge of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Social Justice.
The intention with these devices is to have more control and monitoring of people who are charged but not convicted, who will be monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This technology may also apply in cases of domestic violence to prevent the attackers from approaching the homes or their partners.
